I do know individuals who use this as their primary home grill who have seldom had an issue.

With attachements you can do pancakes on side & burgers on the other simultaneously. Or you can boil water on side & grill on the other... it is versatile.

I've owned this grill for  years now. I preheat & cook with the TOP DOWN on a regular basis. We are speaking about 20+ hours so far of TOP DOWN cooking & nothing has ever melted/burnt. I use it camping sometimes cooking for 20+ people. How someone could be complaining about not being able to cook with the top down is unusual, & I must say that I am tending to agree with another commenter that it might be a malicious comment trying to discredit this grill. Oy... the world they live in.

I do know individuals who use this as their primary home grill who have seldom had an issue. As for flaws, I guess the only flaw is that it is kind of a pain to neat up after grilling, as you can soak the grill-plate attachments, but you must neat all the inside surfaces by hand. Not fun, but a small cost to pay for the conveinence this grill offers.

My view? Worth every minute of neat up to have a grill like this that I"m able to make use of 100% of the grill surface. Definite there's some "hot spots" & "cool spots" as with any grill, & you need to learn where they are how to cook with it. That lesson is learned after the first time you use it!

Overall this grill does an excellent job, & if/when I kill it, I will be looking for another like it.
